1. Civilian thermal imaging night vision devices

General observation purposes: When ordinary civilian thermal imaging night vision devices are used for outdoor adventures, wildlife observation and other activities, the effective detection distance is mostly around 200 meters to 1000 meters. For example, when observing medium-sized animals such as deer and wild boars in the wild, the thermal outline of the animals can usually be clearly seen within a few hundred meters; when used for home security monitoring, the detection distance for personnel is generally around 100 meters to 300 meters, and suspicious persons approaching the residence can be discovered in time.

Professional application scenarios: In professional fields such as power inspection and industrial equipment monitoring, the detection distance of some mid-to-high-end civilian thermal imagers can reach about 500 meters to 2000 meters. For example, when detecting fault points on transmission lines, abnormal heating areas caused by overheating can be found at a distance of about 500 meters; in large industrial plants, when inspecting equipment, potential overheating fault hazards can be found at a distance of about 1000 meters.

2. Military thermal imaging night vision device

Individual equipment: Under normal circumstances, the effective detection distance of thermal imaging night vision devices carried by individual soldiers is about 1000 meters to 2000 meters, which can clearly detect enemy personnel and equipment at night. In some complex terrain or camouflaged conditions, hidden targets can also be found hundreds of meters away.

Large equipment such as vehicle-mounted and airborne: Thermal imaging night vision devices installed on vehicles, aircraft and other platforms can reach detection distances of thousands of meters or even farther due to the larger size of detectors and more advanced optical systems. For example, the thermal imaging aiming system on some armed helicopters can detect ground targets at a distance of more than 3,000 meters, and can detect and track enemy vehicles, positions and other targets at a long distance.

The detection distance of thermal imaging night vision devices is affected by many factors such as detector performance, lens focal length, target size and temperature difference, atmospheric environment, etc. For example, the higher the resolution of the detector and the longer the lens focal length, the longer the detection distance; the greater the temperature difference between the target and the background, the easier it is to detect; in severe weather conditions such as foggy and rainy days, the detection distance will be significantly shortened.
